Kyllan’s Visit

As Kyllan mentioned in her earlier post, she spent this past weekend in Denver. We had a great time. Along with registering, which she wrote about in her post, we managed to find a little time to explore the city. Even though I have been here for six months, this was my first time getting out and really seeing the sites. I’ve uploaded some pictures of her trip to my flickr account. Check them out when you get the chance. The picture below is of the two of us standing on the steps of the state capitol building. The step we are standing on is exactly one mile above sea level.

Update: Kyllan posted more pictures of the trip to her Flickr account

Gift Registry

This weekend, I made my first trip to Denver to keep William company for the weekend and celebrate his birthday (one week early). Besides getting a chance to see a few historic landmarks in Denver (pictures will be posted soon), go to a movie, see the lab, and just explore the city, we also had the opportunity to register for gifts for the wedding. Yes… we are a bit early, but we figured we would get it out of the way while we had some free time to spare in case our schedules conflict over the next few months. Our first stop was Bed, Bath & Beyond and since William is not much of a shopper, I figured he would start getting grumpy after just a short time there, but I was soooooo wrong. William was in charge of scanning the items we wanted included in the registry and he loved every minute of it…all 240 minutes of it… yes… 4 hours at one store! I have to say that the staff at Bed, Bath & Beyond were extremely helpful and suggested taking breaks to get food or spread the selection over a few days if we needed to, but we kept going. William made sure we didn’t miss a single row or item to consider. Combined with my excitement to create a beautiful and well-equipped home for the two of us, we ended up with a very extensive and thorough gift registry. We also registered at Crate and Barrel and Dillard’s, which took much less time than our Bed, Bath & Beyond registry experience. I think it was just that the store is so extensive and has almost everything you would need for your home. Well, before I begin sounding like a commercial, I will stop. You can check out our registries by following the link on our wedding website, or clicking on the highlighted links above.

Flashback

To make up for the recent lack of post, I thought I would share an old family photo with everyone. This is the oldest family portrait I own. The copy I have belonged to my sister. It now sits on my mantle inside of what is likely the original frame. I’d guess it was from ’82 or ’83. Maybe my mother can help me out on the date.

Bracketology

It’s that time of year again. The NCAA college basketball tournament is upon us and people in offices all over the country are filling out their brackets. Kyllan and I are hosting our own bracket for readers of our blog who would like to participate. No buy in, just submit a bracket (you are probably already doing one). The winner will receive a box of thin mint Girl Scout cookies in the mail. Follow the link here to submit your bracket. The password is “Report.” Remember, you have to register before the first game on Thursday, March 15.

6 Months Until the Wedding!

It is hard to believe a year has gone by since William and I became engaged and we are now just 6 months away from being husband and wife.  Wow… that’s even weird to type!  I still remember watching in disbelief as he got down on one knee in the rain and the huge smile that stayed on his face for the rest of the weekend.  We are both extremely excited and look forward to sharing our day with everyone despite William’s attempts on a weekly basis to grab our parents and 1-2 friends and elope! (Dont worry… it’s not happening).  The wedding plans continue to progress very nicely and have not attempted to pull any of my hair out yet :-).  You should be receiving your Save the Date invitations in the mail in the next few days if you have not already, and can visit our wedding website for additional details.  Hope to see you in Dallas!

Weekend Plans?

Anybody doing anything interesting this weekend? I will probably spend the majority of the weekend studying. I was thinking about catching a movie, but I don’t know of anything interesting out. Anybody seen anything good recently? I have The Departed on DVD. I may watch in the apartment complex theater room.
