I am not feeling well, so I am not going into the lab today. I am actually getting pretty bored. We didn’t mention it earlier, but in case anyone has been wondering, Kyllan won the March Madness basketball pool for the site. My cousin Robin and her husband Todd came in a close second. Also, there were a few inquiries about the remote that Kyllan brought me and made it so great that I would ask for as a present.The Harmony 880 is THE universal remote. No programming, you plug it into the computer by usb and tell it the make and model of your components and which ones you use with what activities. So you setup an activity like “watch DVD” and it will turn on the TV, receiver and DVD player, turn off the cable box,  and set everything to the correct input. The LCD screen acts as the buttons for these activities and switches to customizable buttons once you are in that activity… never mind. I like it. One word, accelerometer.

Kyllan’s birthday is quickly approaching. Unlike me, she hasn’t been able to provide any hints. I was going to get her a Lexus, but she already went out and got that. Oh well.

Early Birthday present

With my birthday around the corner, I decided to treat myself with a present this year. It was something I had my eye on for a few months now and my Jetta was starting to get pretty shabby. Even my mom told me it was time for a new one. So…. I bought a new Lexus ES350 yesterday. So far, I am really happy with my purchase. It has a smooth ride, and a quiet and comfortable interior…. a major upgrade from my Jetta. The condition of my Jetta was starting to get embarrassing, especially since Willaim’s SUV is about the same age as my Jetta, but his still looks new. Now I won’t be embarrassed when the Corporate office folks come into town and need a ride somewhere 🙂  Click on the photo below to see more photos on my flickr account.

Catch Up

My parents, and my birthday, have come and gone. I think my parents had a really good time. They have officially seen more of Denver than I have. While I was in the lab, they were out exploring the city. Hopefully they will be uploading pictures soon. (Unfortunately, I took very few over the week.) For the most part, we just hung out. I haven’t been in Denver long enough to know all of the good restaurants. As Kyllan said, on my birthday we ate at Ruth’s Chris, my favorite restaurant. We found a pretty good breakfast place, but it was not as good as Blue Bird in New Orleans or All Good in Dallas.

…A few weeks ago I asked Kyllan what was her favorite photo in my apartment that was not of her. You can find her answer below. My mother says that my dad had just arrived home from being on call at the hospital and were excited to see him. Apparently we were not concerned with the fact that he was on the phone.

Happy Birthday to my more than wonderful fiancé who turns 27 today! While in Denver, I found a gray hair indicating he is getting much wiser from all that time spent in the lab 🙂 I had a baby picture that I would have posted, but I think William has my copy, so I will save it for another time. His parents will be traveling to Denver to celebrate with him over dinner at his favorite restaurant, Ruth’s Chris, and I am sure will keep him smiling for the rest of the week during their visit.
