It’s been a week, so I feel the need to make a post. Nothing in particular. I recently began watching the “re-imagined” version of Battlestar Galactica. It is really good and I recommend it not just to sci-fi fans, but anyone that likes a good drama. I’ve been using Netflix to rent a lot of television series recently. Do any of you have any suggestions on what to get next? I still haven’t made it out to see any of the summer blockbusters. I thought Oceans’ 12 and the last Pirates of the Caribbean were horrible, so there is no way I would pay money to the sequels. Shrek the Third received bad reviews, so I am passing on that. I wouldn’t mind seeing Knocked Up though. The guys making it are hilarious and, surprisingly, it received really good reviews. I might also try to see Die Hard 4Β this month. I am a sucker for movies with a lot of explosions. I plan to visit Kyllan July 4th weekend, so I’ll see what I can talk her into seeing with me.
Before I forget, my cousin Niki now has a flickr account. Check it out if you get a chance. In the future, you will be able to find a link in the right hand toolbar.
You should check out Deadliest Catch if you can. Tami and I are big fans. Also, we really liked Eureka. Tami and I plan on seeing Knocked Up tomorrow, we’ll let you know how it is.
Thanks for the link to Nikki’s flickr account. I enjoyed looking at her pictures.
Update: Knocked Up is hilarious. Funny as 40 YO Virgin. It’s long though, 2 1/2 hours. Go see it, Will.
Nikki- the pics of the kids are so cute! I love the picture of the two of them looking at the bear through the glass.
Neil- glad to hear Knocked Up was funny. I definitely have that on my “go see” list. Despite William’s criticism of the sequels, I heard Ocean’s 13 was supposed to be good, so that is on my “go see” list too. I agree that Ocean’s 12 wasn’t nearly as good as Ocean’s 11, but hopefully 13 will be better.
Kyllan, I guess I’m one of the only people who actually like Ocean’s 12. Tami and I plan to see Ocean’s 13 on Friday.
Must go see knocked up. I laughed so loud I thought I would get kicked out the theater. Personal favorite show of mine is Lost I have both seasons that are out on DVD and will be the first to get the third. I hope you rent them Will so we can discuss the theories behind Lost. Also if you like Sci-Fi check out The 4400.
Kyllan and I are planning to go see Knocked up when I go to Dallas. Neil, Ocean’s 12? Really? There was a dance sequence! Only musicals are allowed dance sequences! (or comedies during the credits.) Tami, I’ve heard some good things about The 4400. I might have to put that on the list. I’m not sure about Lost though. I’ve heard some bad things about this past season, so I don’t know if I want to get invested. It sounds like it went the Sopranos route. (Started out good, writers had a certain number of seasons in mind and wrote the story arcs to conclude that amount of time, show gets an extension, writers don’t know what to do and the show falls apart.)
Kyle’s really into Battlestar Gallactica, but oddly enough, also thought Oceans 12 and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 were horrbile. Hmm, imagine that! π Knocked Up sounds like a good date movie, and tomorrow is date night in the Brazile camp…sounds like a plan.
Last minute change, we’re going to see Fantastic 4 today. Will let you know how it is.
It’s funny that you mentioned those movies in your post. I was skeptical to see Pirates 3 since I heard that 2 was so bad (never even saw it), but after boards I wanted to treat myself to something and it was the only show at 10p so I saw it. I really thought that it was as good as the first one. There were a few weird scenes, but overall it was good.
As for Ocean’s 13, it was WAYYYYY better than the second one. It actually got back to the thought process behind the scenes instead of the crap they pulled in the second one. So… I actually enjoyed both #3’s more than I expected π
