William and I had a nice weekend together in Denver. We saw a couple movies and just enjoyed being together again. It was even better when we realized we would see each other again in 9 days (when William comes to Dallas for Thanksgiving). We began to discuss what we would do the next time we see each other and it led to a discussion of things we would like to do during our lifetimes. We both agreed that traveling was something we definitely want to do more of. A second honeymoon to Turks and Caicos is a must (we would go every year if we could afford it). I also want to explore a few other Caribbean Islands.
So… since we have friends and family members who have done so many interesting things and have taken so many wonderful vacations, we are soliciting feedback on things we should add to our “Must Do” list. Below are a few things we have so far (no particular order and I am probably forgetting some)
1. Second Honeymoon to Turks and Caicos
2. Italy with William’s parents
3. Marathon (William’s must do, but I may join him)
4. Go to the Olympic Games (We are considering London in 2012)
5. Go Skiing (We should probably take advantage of Colorado while William is there)
6. Go to a Broadway Musical (William has been, but I have only been to Off Broadway)
7. Become a Pro Tennis Player on Nintendo Wii (I am a Pro Bowler already!!)
8. Attend a Fight in Vegas (This is another William must do, but we will probably bring the girls and do girls night in Vegas while the guys go to the fight).
9. More vacations, some probably post retirement (Phuket($), Bora Bora ($$), Grand Maldives ($$$), Caribbean, Spain, etc…)
10. Much, much, more….
Help us add to our list. Give us your suggestions!
Interesting, this is the first I have heard of traveling to Bora Bora. Kyllan has been in love with Maldives ever since the Today Show sent a couple their for their honeymoon. I wouldn’t mind going to a shuttle lunch. I think we should add being a member of a studio audience (like the tonight show or Conan).
Oh yeah.. I forgot about the studio audience. That would be cool.
Ok, so why is everyone so afraid to comment? No comments or suggestions?? Where is the love!!
Ok, I know this is random, but I sort of got sucked into the Kyllan and Coty love story accidently. I have a flickr account and was looking up Central State University friends (since i had recently gone to their homecoming – I went there 1999-2001) and came across Kyllan account. Anyway, to you and your husband, congrats, and I wish you both matrimonial bliss. you two are a beautiful couple. And as for the purpose of this blog – St. Lucia – upon the ocean bluffs, its beautiful my parents tell me.
Well Kyllan, I have been resisting, but you asked for it. I see lots of travel in your future. The Codys love to travel as you know. We are really looking forward to Italy next year. I hope you expand your list to include lots of travel for the Cody parents, Cody children and Cody grandchildren together 🙂
Love the list! You are right a Broadway show is a MUST! We are trying to decide when it will be appropriate to take the kids to a show — hopefully it will be soon!
I wish that I could add something to your list, I forgot all my must do’s! (Now we have kid must do’s.)
Hope you guys are doing well! I might not post a lot, but I am following along with y’all! 😉
Oh missed the part about the shuttle launch! We saw a rocket launch and I have no words to explain it. Tried to see a shuttle launch and they scrubbed it as we were on the bridge to Port Canaveral — what can you do?!
Toya- Thanks for your comment. We researched St. Lucia when we were picking honeymoon destination. Hopefully we will make it there one day.
Mrs. Cody- I am sure there will be lots of travel for the entire Cody family.
Kim P- I am sure there will be lots to add once we have kids.
11. RUNNING WITH THE BULLS!!!!!
Toya, thanks for stopping by.
Mom, No worries. I think there will be plenty of family trips in our future.
Kim P., my lab was on that PNAS paper about Salmonella virulence in space. MY PI was at Cape Canaveral for weeks getting stuff ready for the mission. He did all sorts of behind the scenes stuff. I tried to call you a couple of days ago. I don’t think I have a current number. What is on the kid’s must do list?
Neil, running with the bulls? I didn’t know you had gone crazy!
I’ve always thought that was the coolest thing in the world. I want to do it in about 5 yrs. Care to join me?
Hi Guys:
OK, (A) You have Kyle and I planning a trip to Turks and Caicos next year (B) Here are my suggestions:
1. Attend Cody’s 10 year reunion! Come on, you were a friggin drum major, and in the event we make a presentation to Mr. Young (non-monetary of course ;), you should be there!
2. The Lion King was an excellent Broadway Show. I’d also recommend Chicago and The Color Purple.
3. Some of the most fun Kyle and I have had as married people has been on road trips. I imagine you guys have had a few so far, but road tripping from coast to coast would be fun.
4. Hike through a rainforest.
Jos
I will email you my new number! That is AWESOME about your PI — I would love to do stuff like that! Some of the kid’s must do list (some of the ones that we can accomplish in the near future there are LOTS, but many they really can’t do until they are older.)
1. Baseball game before they are one — done.
2. Broadway show (We are thinking when Sarah is 5.)
3. Walk 9 holes of golf before they are three –Sarah has already been to a First Tee Clinic and the driving range.
4. First haircuts at Disney.
5. College football game 😉 and/or tailgating. Sarah has tailgated.
6. Run the Tot Trot in our community when they are old enough.
Just a few.
When you come to Broadway…must stay with us. We have seen MANY…MANY on and off Broadway shows. They are usually great, some better than others. Italy…yes…awesome we went on a 14 day trip there about 3 years ago. London…another must. Spain a must too. Please contact us if you go to any of these places, we can give good recommendations. Traveling is what you do when you have been married 10 years without kids…LOL.
P.S. William…wasn’t one of your to do’s to go eat at Moosehead?? 😉 Oh, and I think that you should put “Change toilet seat at 2am.” on there….I will never forget you saying that!
Neil- wow
Joscelyne- You should definitely go to Turks and Caicos at some point. You will NOT regret it at all. We have only really made 2 road trips so far. One when I moved from Florida to Texas after Katrina and William and I drove through Mississippi looking for gas (all the gas stations were out) and when I drove back to Colorado with William after the wedding and listen to 14 hours of gammer and techie podcasts (and actually didn’t really mind it).
Angela- we will definitely do the Broadway show at some point, so we will be sure to contact you about that and the other places you mentioned. What has been your favorite trip so far?
Kim- love the kids must do list!
Kyllan, so I don’t need to pencil you in to run with the bulls?
Oh yeah, I forgot
12. Drive on the Nurburgring in Nurburg, Germany.
Neil- No need to pencil me in to run with the bulls. In fact, I don’t know that I can allow you or William to do that either. Does Tami know about this?
She does now
Neil, there is no way I am joining you for running with the bulls… If you are still allowed to go.
Jos, you have to leave the baby behind when you go to Turks & Caicos. I’ll plan to go to the reunion when you start, and keep, another blog. I can count on one hand the number of people I would like to see…and still have fingers left
Kim P.,
golf? Already?
Moosehead (a popular vegan restaurant in Ithaca.) -Unfortunately I already did that. When we first started dating I meet Kyllan and her friends there for dinner. I hated it, but that is how much liked her. Of course, now that we are married, I would flat out tell her no.
“Change the toilet seat at 2am?”- That’s already been checked off too. I need to check if the Home Depot here is 24hrs. I have a few projects that need attention.
Angela and Allen, we will definitely be in contact about the trips. Kyllan is serious about this traveling thing.
You can add these:
Visit a cattle ranch & NYC Ballet performance (and/or Alvin Ailey Dance Co.) very different types of dance, both worth it.
I’ve been to an Alvin Ailey Dance Co. performance, so that will be up to Kyllan. I am, however, going to veto the cattle ranch.
Me and Stephanie have a similar list.
Attend Macy’s Day Parade
