Olympics so far

Don’t worry, no spoilers until after the fold…

I have been really enjoying the Olympics so far. If the gasp from Kyllan on the other end of the phone are any indication, she is enjoying the games too. The opening ceremony was amazing, even if there was a little controversy. Personally I think NBC has done a horrible job with communicating what sports will be on air at what time. Kyllan is getting “Live” broadcast an hour earlier than I am. It’s great that they are offering live events online, but they should have at least added an audio feed so there would be some commentary with the video. Below are so of my thoughts on the events I’ve been able to catch (click more). Consider any comments to be spoiler rich.

Wow! I hope everyone caught the men’s swim team 4×100 relay. I think that was the most exciting momment of the games so far. I am disgusted with USA boixing. We’ve never been willing to fight the style required to win at the Olympic Games or taken time to under stand the point system, but this year is worse than usual. They were at least three early upsets and one guy couldn’t even make weight. Then there is this clown. Heavily favored, he stops fighting in the last round, thinking that he was ahead on points, only to lose by a small margin. Oher than some completely random stuff, like rowing and beach vollyball, the only other thing I’ve really paid attention to has been gymnastics. The men were exstatic to win bronze, while the woman’s team was so visiabl disapointed with silver. I don’t know if I would want my kid putting so much pressure on themselves that second in the world wasn’t good enough. Yes, I know, the window was open and without a few critical mistakes they could have beaten the Chinese girls’ women’s team. (Does anybody really believe that those girls are really 16?) I’m looking forward to Men’s basketball game against Greece. My TV programming guide says it should be on now, but online it says 5am PT. Whatever.
