The new TV season is about a month old. What shows are you guys watching? I watched a bunch of the new show initially, but the only ones I enjoyed and continue to watch are Life on Mars and Fringe. Life on Mars is a remake of a Britsh show of the same title that I really enjoyed. It is about a current day police detective who is hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. It is unclear if the lead character is dreaming while in a coma, in purgatory or actually traveled through time. Each episode usually features a crime of the week that is somehow linked to his life in 2008… I think the British verison was a better. Fringe is being hailed as the new X-files. It is about a FBI agent who works with a mentaly unstable, discredited scientist and his genuis son to investigate a series of mysteriously linked crimes that also seem to be connected to the doctor’s old research. Unlike the simarly themed British remake Eleventh hour, where a man with a Ph.D. in apparently every field known to man yells things like “No amount of money in the world will stop the virus that is raging a was inside of you” to infected bad guys, Fringe knows that it is not exactly based in reality. Returning shows that I’ve been watching include the Tina Fey’s 30 rock, offbeat crime serial Life and spy comedy Chuck. Of course my two favorite shows, 24 and Battlestar Galatica haven’t started yet.
Right now I’m watching Entourage mainly. I haven’t really picked up any new shows. I think I’ve given up on 24. Heroes is coming close to being on the chopping block, too.
Oh yeah, and basketball (mainly the Hawks)
I thought Entourage was pretty good the first couple of seasons. Now it feels like HBO is dragging the show out. For me, Heroes hit the chopping block as soon as the 2nd season started.
I stopped Heroes season 2, but I like how they are getting back to that season 1 flavor with this season, so I’ve been tuning into that. I’m still watching Grey’s even though I’m starting to find myself getting bored with the repetitive drama… they need new characters. I keep forgetting to tune into Private Practice, even though I liked it last year. I really like Life on Mars, but never saw the British one to compare. That’s about it… oh yeah, there’s the Hills that I catch online!
I might give Heroes another try on DVD, but it is way down on the list. Kyllan loves Grey’s and Private Practice, they are probably her two favorite shows. The British version of Life on Mars shows sporadically on BBC America. I caught it during a marathon. I liked the actors better, but the plots are tighter in the US version.
After future review, I’ve determined that Dr. Hood of Eleventh Hour must have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics and Neurology a M.D., and a DVM.
William is right… Grey’s and Private Practice are probably my favorites. I also watch Desperate Housewives, Lipstick Jungle, and Ugly Betty. I used to watch Law and Order SVU a lot, but have only seen a couple episodes lately. I like reality shows from time to time. I haven’t watched The Hills in a long time, and I only caught a couple episodes of the Real Housewives of Atlanta (for comic relief). I like Top Chef on Bravo. There are so many shows that I would like to watch, but I get home late and therefore can’t keep up with my TIVO’d shows. I will watch 24 when it starts up again. I missed yesterday’s episode and my best friend (now not best friend) = TIVO, did not record it. William sent me the link to Hulu to watch it online.
