Well… it was a fun, exciting weekend for William and me. It started with my birthday on Friday, my sister’s birthday on Saturday, and then Mother’s Day today where we finally revealed Baby Girl Cody’s name to our mom’s (and therefore everyone else). We sent them Mother’s Day cards from the baby (with her name inside) that they were told not to open until today.
So…. the new member of the Cody household will be named…………….. (Click “read more” below)
Laurel Annette
Choosing the name was not very difficult. William and I talked about baby names a couple years ago before we were even ready to start a family. We both jotted down a few names we liked and we both liked Laurel. So…. when we found out we were having a girl, the conversation went something like this:
William: So, do you still like the name Laurel?
Kyllan: Yeah… I do. Do you?
William: Yeah. So are we naming her Laurel?
Kyllan: I guess so.
There may have been other discussion, but we did not really go back and forth with other names. We would have had a much harder time if it were a boy since William is still undecided about another William Cody in the family. He is concerned it may get even more confusing.
The middle name was also pretty easy. We knew we wanted to do something to honor the memory of William’s sister, Caroline Annette Cody. We considered both Caroline and Annette, but decided on Annette. Annette actually came from William’s mom’s middle name, which is Ann, so she has a bit of both of their names.
So, it’s nice that we can freely start calling Baby Girl Cody, Laurel, now. I am so surprised one of us did not slip and reveal the name since we began calling her by name around the house.
The other big reveal of the weekend was the nursery. Yes… I finally saw it!!!! William showed it to me on my birthday and it was the best birthday gift ever! More to come on that, but since our parents are coming this weekend for my baby shower, we will probably not post pictures and the video (yes… you know William had to capture the moment on video) until Saturday after they see it. I will say that he did a PHENOMENAL job and I could not be happier with the way it turned out. I can’t wait for everyone to see his masterpiece! 🙂
Love the name!
Beautiful name!
Thanks! We love it too 🙂
