I can’t believe how fast time has flown by, especially this last month. Things have been pretty busy around here the past few weeks. I am teaching this summer, essentially giving two lectures and two labs every day with the pace of the summer session, and Kyllan has been trying to get as much done at work as possible before she starts maternity leave. Of course there has also been a lot of preparing for baby… Actually, I think that is all that we do now when we are home. We have completed most of our to-do list over the past 3 weeks. All the clothes washed and put away. Strollers and bassinets have been assembled. Car seats have been tested and diaper bags packed. Yesterday I cleaned the carpets and today we reorganized our kitchen cabinets to make room for all of the baby stuff.

Memorial Day Photos
I did a little grilling for memorial day. I posted a few of the photos to my filickr.

Nursery Reveal
By now I think that everyone knows that I decorated the nursery for baby Laurel and that I did a reveal for Kyllan on her birthday. Miraculously, she didn’t peek once during the entire process. Below is the video of the nursery reveal and Kyllan’s reaction. Also, there is a second video where Kyllan and I talk about our favorite parts of the nursery. Both can be played in HD if you change the settings in the corner of video. Also, a few pictures are on my flickr page.
The Shower
Kyllan’s Baby shower is this weekend. I say Kyllan’s baby shower, and not our baby shower, because I was not invited. Both our parents will be in town for the event, as well as a few out of state friends we don’t get to see very often. (We don’t see the ones in state enough either.) I’ve been busy trying to wrap up the semester and Kyllan is always buys, so we haven’t had much time to really do baby related stuff recently. It will be great to have a chance to share our excitement with everyone. I know that one of the shower events is going to be watching the nursery reveal video. At this point, Kyllan is the only person other than me that has seen it. I will post the same video to the site sometime this weekend, after the shower.
Joyful Occasion
Kyllan and I were in Jacksonville this past weekend to help my mother celebrate 5 years of cancer survival. My mother enjoys 3 things in life: family, friends and dancing, and that is exactly how she decided to mark the occasion. Everyone in attendance at the “Pink Party” was someone that reached out to her or provided solace while she was receiving treatment. Food, live music, champagne toast, a dance tribute by two little kids (making an encore performance from the wedding) and something called the “pink ribbon dance,” which I am pretty sure was a Betty original, made it an event to be remembered. As always, pictures can be found on my Flickr. (There was a photographer at the event, so I didn’t capture everything. Hopefully there will be more photos to come.)

Man Post
Every now and then a friend will tell me that the blog has gotten a little too “girly.” When that happens, it’s time for a Man Post. I’ll keep this one limited to gadgets and sports.
Gadgets:
Sometimes photos uploaded to flickr don’t get mentioned in a post. If you happened to check my flickr account 2 weeks ago, you saw my birthday present from my parents.

My official review? I love it. Don’t get me wrong, nobody needs an iPad and Apple is an evil corporation, but I can’t put it down. It was perfect for traveling this weekend. Read an eBook on the plane. Looked over some news stories while in the hotel room. Picked out a restaurant for dinner. Checked in for the flight home. Reviewed some material for my course. And, the monthly data plan was less than it would have cost to access wifi in the room for the weekend. By far my favorite app is flipboard. I am a sucker for news aggregation mixed with social networking. That, and any app that uses airplay, allowing me to stream content from the iPad to the tv with the appleTV, which was a birthday present from Kyllan. (Seriously, apple is evil. But, Just like Sony, I buy their stuff.)
The only real question is, was the gift really for me, or was it for baby girl Cody? Either way, she’ll be getting an iPad3 because of this.
Sports:
I can’t believe that I am going to miss the 1st round of the draft on Thursday while teaching and in the air flying to Jacksonville for rounds 2 &3! I’m not even going to be able to watch all the pre-draft hype. How am I supposed to feel like this could be the Jaguars year if I don’t watch the draft? How am supposed to laugh at Kyllan when the Cowboys make some absurd trade to select a player that will be arrested before the season starts? By the time I get home Thursday, the only news story will be about how Cam Newton did or did not go first overall! By the time we make it to Jacksonville, the only story will be on “how did _______ fall all the way to the 4th round? Could ________ be the next Tom Brady?” At least I can watch Jaguars news coverage while in Jacksonville and won’t have to suffer through non-stop Cowboys coverage in Dallas.
100 Days
This whole baby thing seemed like it was taking forever, but now that the due date is only 100 days away, it all seems to be happening so fast! 100 days. Can you believe that? There is still so much to get done. As far as I can tell, Kyllan has behaved and has not peeked at the nursery… yet. She is, however, inquiring about the nursery reveal at least twice a day and telling me what days would be good for her. I’m pretty sure that she has a date set in her mind that she will take a look regardless of what I say.
Things are really going to start flying by now. Last week we took our official labor and delivery tour of the hospital. Just another sign that the end/beginning is getting near. Kyllan is REALLY pregnant now, which may explain her lack of post recently. That, and she is back to falling asleep at the blink of an eye. Below is her 25 weeks picture, taken this past Saturday. This coming weekend we will travel to South Carolina to attend the wedding of one of Kyllan’s college friends and sorority sisters. The weekend after that we will be in Jacksonville (more on that to come). The week after that we will celebrate Kyllan’s birthday. The week after that, Kyllan’s sister is hosting her baby shower.
Also, I would just like to remind everyone that we are now blocking search engines from the site. Searching for “cody report” on Google is going to be less and less likely to turn up the blog. (More and more likely to turn up links by that guy named Cody who wanted to buy the domain from me a few years back for his weekly stock market report.)
Disclaimer: I received a phone call from a friend alerting me that too many post on the blog were focused on pink baby clothes and baby bumps. My next post will be a MAN POST about manly things

Movement
This past Sunday Kyllan suddenly grabbed my hand and thrust it upon her stomach. As soon as I opened my mouth to ask her what in the world was going on, she gave me her “be quiet” look. A few moments later I felt my daughter move for the very first time. That brief second was one of the most amazing moments of my life.
Also, here is a picture of Kyllan at 22 weeks.
Changes
With the new job, last week I had a spring break for the first time since high school. (I went to undergrad in New Orleans. We didn’t have spring break. We had 3 days for Mardi Gras and two days for Easter.) A funny thing happened. All that time off and I did not see one movie. Not in theaters and not at home. I didn’t play video games. I didn’t get around to putting together a photo book of last year’s trip to Hawaii or editing the 3 year old video from the Mediterranean. What did I do? (Yes, I know. Kyllan already told you.) I started putting together a nursery. I was out the door by 9am everyday, back by 5 every evening and putting things together all night. Even stranger than that? That’s exactly what I wanted to do with my spring break. Like Kyllan said, she hasn’t seen it yet. She is banned until it is completed. It’s interesting to hear what she thinks is going on in there. I think she starting to play mind games on herself at this point with all of her guessing.
On another note, we are going to try and reduce the visibility of the blog on search engines like Google. It will probably take a while before searching for the blog doesn’t lead lead you directly here, but you should go ahead and bookmark the site or subscribe to the RSS feed if you haven’t already.
