The Game

I know the Super Bowl is coming up, but the story here in Dallas has really been about the weather. The city has basically been shutdown for the entire week due to ice and snow. And yes, I know. It is colder wherever it is that you are. But I live in Dallas and it should be 60º, not 15º. We don’t have salt for the roads. We have sand. And we ran out of that Yesterday.

Anyway, I’d like to see Aaron Rogers win, but I will be cheering for the Steelers. My favorite sports reporter is leaving Jacksonville to work for the Packers, so I hate them now.

Stars

I spent the weekend with Kyllan in Dallas. We are always looking for something new to do, so Kyllan got tickets to a Dallas Stars‘ game on Saturday. The plan was to stay for a while and then head to the State Fair of Texas, but something strange happened when we got to the arena… we enjoyed our selves. Apparently Kyllan and I are hockey fans. Who knew? The Stars lost, to the Colorado Avalanche coincidentally, but it was a really good game. We had to look up some of the rules in the program guide, but it didn’t take us too long to figure out what was going on. This was Kyllan’s first hockey game, I attended a game as part of my recruitment trip to Cornell, and the first time either of us had been to the American Airlines Center. We did eventually make it to the fair, but we didn’t stay too long. Kyllan also took advantage of my time in Dallas to show off her Wii fit skills.

Olympics so far

Don’t worry, no spoilers until after the fold…

I have been really enjoying the Olympics so far. If the gasp from Kyllan on the other end of the phone are any indication, she is enjoying the games too. The opening ceremony was amazing, even if there was a little controversy. Personally I think NBC has done a horrible job with communicating what sports will be on air at what time. Kyllan is getting “Live” broadcast an hour earlier than I am. It’s great that they are offering live events online, but they should have at least added an audio feed so there would be some commentary with the video. Below are so of my thoughts on the events I’ve been able to catch (click more). Consider any comments to be spoiler rich. (more…)

Memphis

Let their be no question, my parents and I have been cheering for Memphis State The University of Memphis since day one of the tournament. I’m not sure what games the commentators were watching, but I saw the Tigers whoop some butt on Saturday. That’s right everybody, the team predicted to be the first #1 seed to be eliminated from the tournament are one game away form a national championship!
