So those that have been to Ithaca before know that Ithaca is known for having the “Ithaca is Gorges” shirts and bumper stickers everywhere. (by the way….if you don’t know what a gorge is, it’s synonymous with canyon and the ones in Ithaca usually have waterfalls throughout these canyons. It is actually very pretty…. when it’s warm that is). Anyway…. people are now creating spoofs of the “Ithaca is Gorges”. Above is a favorite of William and I. We think this best defines Ithaca. While I was there this past weekend, the high on Saturday was in the low 50s and the low was in the 30s… IN MAY!!!!
Rain Rain Go Away….
It rained again on Monday morning, so still no foundation 🙁 There is a slight chance for rain on Tuesday evening, but besides that, the week looks pretty c lear of rain. So, hopefully I will have a foundation this week. I know I am anxious, but besides getting married, this is the most exciting thing I have done in my life thus far.
Happy Birthday Kim N.
Happy Birthday to Kyllan’s sister Kim. I can still hear Kim screaming through the phone as Kyllan told her we were engaged. The first time I met Kim was after I evacuated New Orleans, because of hurricane Katrina, and had already spent a night at her house while she was out of town. I guess that really goes to show just how supportive she has been of me and Kyllan’s relationship. Before we had ever even met she was making me feel like part of the family. I look forward to spending many holidays with you and watching your son grow. Happy Birthday!
If you are scratching your head, you can stop now. Yes, Kyllan and her sister’s birthdays are back-to-back.
(Kyllan is still out of town, so I am making this post.)
St. Boniface Haiti Foundation
My father received the “Haiti Hope Award” for providing health care to the people of Fund-des-Blancs, Haiti. The actual award is a statue of a slave blowing a lambi, the Haitian Creole word for conch shell, which was blown as a horn and used during the slave rebellion against the French colonialists in 1791 to alert the slaves to impending danger and the need to assemble. The symbol of the lambi represents the Haitian people’s hope, strength, resistance, and struggle for self-determination. Kyllan and I went to Jacksonville last weekend for the reception. For more pictures of the reception check my flickr photostream. Check my Dad’s photostream for pictures he took in Haiti. (Warning: A few of his medical pictures are graphic.)
The trip also gave Kyllan time to discuss the wedding with my mother.
Remember to call Kyllan tomorrow
Kyllan will be in Ithaca, Ny. this weekend. Hopefully she will bring back some pictures and funny stories. I just wanted to remined everyone to call her tomorrow and wish her a Happy Birthday. Send her a silly e-card if you get the chance.
How does the site look?
I am not sure how I feel about the font and color scheme. Any suggestions on what we should add to the site? Let me know what you think.
Construction Update
As William already mentioned, I am building a house in Rockwall, TX. I am VERY excited about this project! It will be one less thing William and I will have to worry about once we are married. The foundation is supposed to be poured tomorrow, May 4th, but rain is in the forcast the rest of the week, so I probably won’t have a foundation until next week 🙁
I will send updates and pictures as things progress, but you can always check my Flickr photo site for the most up to date photos.
The date it set!
We have finally set a date! September 8, 2007 in Dallas, TX.
It seems like a long time from now, but I am sure the time will fly by.
Hello
I guess I will give this blog a try. William is very excited about the site and is convinced I will be too. I do like how it is a good way to keep everyone updated on what William and I are up to during this exciting period in our lives. So…. I look forward to blogging!
