Here are some photos from Elliott’s 1st birthday party. We had a few friends in the neighborhood over for the party. It was our first real attempt at entertaining in the house and it was really nice to share the occasion. The theme was robots, a take on his bedroom theme of robots and rockets. (I think for birthday #2 we will do a rocket theme.) No injuries this year! Pictures can be found here.
Here is a video of when Laurel first met Elliott in the hospital after his birth. Also, I posted pictures of Elliott’s nursery to flickr a while ago, but don’t think that I mentioned anything. You can find the photos here. The theme of the nursery is spaceships and robots.
Not only have Kyllan and I been sporadic with our posting, until this week, we had not posted photos to Flickr this entire year. Photos spanning New Year’s to my mother’s birthday at the end of February have been uploaded. A few of the shots, like New Year’s, are in the apartment we stayed in between houses. You can also catch glimpses of the new house in the later photos, which will post about soon. The photos can be seen here.
The Codys have had a lot lot going on recently, and unfortunately that has resulted in us neglecting the blog. I am declaring an end to that neglect. We will be posting more frequently around here, starting with this post and a Halloween post soon to follow.
The real reason we have been so busy is that we recently moved. It was no secret, but we never really talked about it on the blog. We are the process of building a new home that is closer to both of our work places. A few weeks ago we sold our old home and moved into an apartment while we await completion of the new one, which we should be in by the end of the year. This process of looking for and buying a new home along with selling our old one has sucked up so much of the little free time we had, especially keeping the old one ready for showings.
Laurel has done great with the move and seems to adjusted to the new daycare, though we miss her old teachers. She has grown so much in the past month. At her 15 month checkup she was in the 92 percentile with height. Her vocabulary is growing everyday as well as her ability to effectively communicate. She now uses a combination of single words, sign language, and gestures. She just had her first dentist appointment and is working on her 4th tooth.
I uploaded pictures from my parents’ visit to Dallas about a week ago. I hope some of you found them. If not, here is a link. We were still settling in to the apartment during their visit, so please excuse any mess.
By now I think that everyone knows that I decorated the nursery for baby Laurel and that I did a reveal for Kyllan on her birthday. Miraculously, she didn’t peek once during the entire process. Below is the video of the nursery reveal and Kyllan’s reaction. Also, there is a second video where Kyllan and I talk about our favorite parts of the nursery. A few people asked about the weather this weekend in Dallas. Just so you know, the average temperature in Dallas this time of year is 57º. A few more pictures are here.
In anticipation of the 4th Kyllan and I bought a grill. We gave it test run this weekend.
It was brought to my attention that I had not had a house party since moving in my new place, so I decided to invite over some friends for a “Girls Night”. The night was consumed with lots of good conversation, food and a serious overload of chocolate. I think all my guests enjoyed themselves and I enjoyed the company. When a handful of us found ourselves still talking at 3am, 3 people decided to stay overnight instead of making a sleep deprived drive back home. I invited both new and old friends and everyone got along so well that I am sure there will be more “girls nights” ahead (although maybe at a more central location… I apparently live in Oklahoma compared to where the rest of my friends live!) At the last minute I decided I wanted to visit Kyllan over the Labor Day weekend. It was a very exciting trip. I got to spend time with Kyllan, help her move into the new house and go to Drew’s 2nd birthday party. Before I get back to packing for my trip to Memphis, where I get to see Kyllan again during my mother’s family reunion, I wanted to make a quick post. You’ll will find a video tour of the new house below. I will post more about the trip and upload pictures to my flickr account when I get back to New Orleans. I guess I will also be making a post about the reunion and uploading pictures of that. Enjoy the tour!
William and I are officially home owners! The closing went very smooth. My bank account is crying, but I am thrilled to have a beautiful new home. It’s the best money I have ever spent. I have posted new pictures on my flickr page. So now the long weekend of moving begins. I am moving tomorrow, mainly b/c my lease expires and I don’t want to pay for an additional month, but since the house is ready I may as well move now. It gives me the long weekend to unpack. My internet service here is suppose to turn off tomorrow, so I will be MIA for a while. I may not have internet service until sometime next week, but I will still have access to my e-mail via my phone. I will try to get an e-mail out as soon as possible with my new address. Thanks for everyone’s support during this process. It has been very exciting, but I am glad is is finally over!
