ASM 2007

I am currently in Toronto for the American Society for Microbiology General Meeting. If you noticed the lack of posting or my comments the past few days, it because I was gathering data up until the last minute for my presentation. Everything came out pretty well and I am excited about the meeting. I doubt that any of you would actually get all that excited about anything going on here, so I will wait until I return to give a recap. I’ll be pretty busy with events at the conference, so I am afraid there won’t be to many pictures.

The Drs. Lewis

Congratulations to Neil and Tami on their recent medical school graduation. You can read all about it on Neil’s blog, The Chronicles of NL. He posted pictures to his website and his flickr. You should also check out the pictures of their son. Other than this post, links can be found in the right hand sidebar. For those who don’t know, Neil is one of my closest friends and will be a groomsmen in my wedding, just as was one in his. (As always, I don’t use full names in post. Eventually the post are indexed by google’s search engine, and I don’t want to help anyone’s ex stalk them. If every there was an occasion, this would be it. Congratulations again.)

Happy Birthday Kim N.!

Happy Birthday to my lovely sister, Kim.  I enjoyed being able to celebrate with her over the weekend.  Yes, I do remember being upset that she went to prom on my 9th birthday and “stole to attention” away from me despite the fact I already had a party both during and after school!

Birthday Girls

Happy Birthday Kyllan

Happy Birthday to my Beautiful fiancee Kyllan. It seems like just yesterday we were 22 years old and going on our first couple of dates. It’s funny to think, next year I can look in the “wife” section of the birthday cards. Kyllan and her sister, Kim N., threw a party last night. Hopefully they will provide some pictures and tell us all about it later.

1 year old

It seems like just yesterday that I was working on a presentation and looking for a way to procrastinate. The result, of course, was the creation of The Cody Report. 365 days and 116 post later, here we are. We’ve shared birthdays, made big announcements, given tours, taught you little about our family, and shared loads of photos. With 479 comments, it appears that our friends and family have enjoyed joining in on the fun. The most commented on post? “Man Post,” of course. A response to a comment I received off-line (you know who you are) about kyllan’s many workout post. #2 Was the holiday movie post. This all started out as an experiment. A year later, I would say it has been a big success. This site will be here for many years to come and we hope you continue to visit.

So, anything to say about year one? Is the site design getting boring? I was thinking about making the links darker. Is there a particular event you would like us to recount? Should there be a reoccurring post, like “old photo Wednesday?” I was thinking of a “caption this photo contest, but never got around to it…

If you have never left a comment on the blog, nows your chance (you know who you are).

Nuggets Game

Although I wasn’t feeling so great, I went to a Nuggets game this past weekend. It was game three of their playoff series with the San Antonio Spurs. Now the guy on the phone made it sound like the student discount tickets we got an e-mail about would be great seats… We were in the very last row. Never the less, we had a great time. There are a few pictures on flickr. If you look hard enough you can see Carmelo and A.I.

Sick

I am not feeling well, so I am not going into the lab today. I am actually getting pretty bored. We didn’t mention it earlier, but in case anyone has been wondering, Kyllan won the March Madness basketball pool for the site. My cousin Robin and her husband Todd came in a close second. Also, there were a few inquiries about the remote that Kyllan brought me and made it so great that I would ask for as a present. The Harmony 880 is THE universal remote. No programming, you plug it into the computer by usb and tell it the make and model of your components and which ones you use with what activities. So you setup an activity like “watch DVD” and it will turn on the TV, receiver and DVD player, turn off the cable box,  and set everything to the correct input. The LCD screen acts as the buttons for these activities and switches to customizable buttons once you are in that activity… never mind. I like it. One word, accelerometer.

Kyllan’s birthday is quickly approaching. Unlike me, she hasn’t been able to provide any hints. I was going to get her a Lexus, but she already went out and got that. Oh well.
